Halloween

Halloween was a lot of fun this year.  Jaxton was a vampire.  We painted is his face white and black with face paint and he had fake vampire teeth.  Cooper was a ninja. Kaylee was Queen Elsa from frozen.  Dawson was a football player. We went trick-or-treating in the Pioneer Village neighborhood in Leo. Trick-or-treating began at 6 o'clock and right at 6 o'clock it began to snow. It was very ironic. The kids were troopers though  and stuck it out in the freezing weather.  Jaxton ran from house to house to reach as many houses as he possibly could.  He was with his friend Joel from his old school.  Cooper was taking his time and made sure to hit every house without skipping any.  When the other kids were getting pretty far ahead, we asked if he'd like to skip any houses.  Of course he declined that, until Joels mom offered to give him 4 pieces of candy from her bucket at home to make up for the 4 skipped houses ahead.  So he held her to that promise :).  Kaylee and Dawson went slower with Dad and plugged along through the treacherous conditions.  The wind and snow and sleet coming down didn't phase Dawson one bit.  He went to each door and got in amongst the bigger kids and would start talking a bunch of gibberish to the homeowner just like all the other kids were talking.  He wanted to make sure he was heard.  Kaylee afterward exclaimed how her feet were wet, her tights were wet, her hair and face were wet and water was in her eyes.  But at the time she didn't complain, but trudged along.  Nate said she reminded him of a faithful pioneer walking and walking across the plains.  What a sweet bunch of kiddos.  Little Nathan had his pumpkin shirt on, but he missed the entire adventure as he snoozed all wrapped up around me all warm and cozy.  Nate and I are trying to do without sugar since we know it is not good for us.  We did well.  We didn't touch the candy.  The longer we go without sugar it almost gets a bit easier to do.

After we escaped the snow, we returned home and snuggled up to watch Casper.  What a fun Halloween!

Pumpkin Decorating

The boys drew out the kind of face they wanted on their pumpkin, then we helped them cut it out.  They all thought the insides were disgusting.  Kaylee and Dawson put stickers and paint all over their pumpkins.  We had a lot of fun with our pumpkins!!

The Pumpkin Patch

We picked a day and visited the pumpkin patch in Leo.  So many pumpkins in all different shapes and sizes.  How could we all possibly choose?  Cooper and dad got a large fat pumpkin to share, jaxton and mom got another large but taller one to share.  Kaylee and Dawson got to pick out their own smaller pumpkins to decorate. The kids even picked out a small pumpkin for Baby Nathan.  Dawson especially couldn't believe how many pumpkins he saw there at the pumpkin patch.  It was a fun tradition.

3 Months Old

At 3 months old, Little Nathan has found his voice.  He will yell and make his voice louder and louder because I think he thinks its interesting.  It seems like he is trying to tell us something when he does that.  However, if he's crying in his crib, the moment he hears my voice when I come into his room, he stops.  He is so darn smart.  One thing that he dislikes very much is his car seat.  If he's just been fed, he may be ok in the car seat.  But often times he just screams his head off no matter what time of day.  Hopefully he will outgrow that one.

We love this little man so very very much.  His little reddish hair is still growing in.  We officially have a second red head in the family.  Happy 3 months!!

Oak Farm Fall Festival

I love fall.  It is so beautiful and the weather is so nice.  The  kids school had a fall festival that they invited us to.  We volunteered to help put together a pumpkin bowling game.  They had all sorts of fun activities for the kids to do.  They cracked all different kinds of nuts, had a wagon ride, made some fun fall crafts and played with their friends in the woods.  Their classes performed some folk songs they'd been practicing too.  I got a chance to meet the parents of some of the kids friends and got to know lots of different people.  It is an amazing school.  We are so glad to be a part of the Oak Farm Community.
