Bear Lake Vacation

We went camping at Bear Lake with all of my family in Utah. Bear Lake is a massive lake surrounded by deserty hills. Hardly any trees around. But the lake is like a turquoise teal color - beautful and clear! We had a cabin at the KOA campground that had a bathroom and refrigerator and microwave with air conditioner and heat! That's my kind of camping. We rented a boat for a few hours and a jet ski. We also went biking on a four seater bike which was super fun! But serious exercise!!! What a fun trip! It was so good to just enjoy the beauty of the lake and the sunshine with family.

Routsong Family Reunion

After our San Diego vacation, we flew directly to Indiana to visit Nate's family. We stayed with the Owens the first couple of nights and visited with Beth and her kids. Then we drove up to Kendallville to stay with Nate's parents. On Saturday, the whole family came up for a reunion. Everyone was there except Nate's brother Nick who is going to college in Provo, UT. That made 12 cousins all together plus all the family on Nate's mom's side of te family (Linda's sister, her kids, and grandkids). Most of all Jaxton loved seeing all the kids. He gets so excited when he sees other babies and little kids. He will squeal and wave his arms to get their attention. Even if he is exhausted, when he sees another kid, he just pipes right up! so you can imagine all the excitement with all 11 of his cousins! Almost overwhelming for him! He had so much fun. He did great on the plane too. He is just an all around happy little guy!

Vacation in San Diego

We took a trip to San Diego after the summer ended to just get away and relax! It was our first trip with a little one on tow! We had a great time just relaxing and not having to worry about anyone or anything but us! We took Jaxton to the San Diego Zoo and went to Medieval Times in LA. We stayed at a beautiful tropical hotel right on Mission Bay. We could walk out the hotel doors and step right onto the sandy beaches of the Bay! It was gorgeous! Jaxton was a fan of the beach! He even thought the sand tasted quite good! He's our little beach bum! It was a nice break after a long busy summer!

San Diego Zoo
Jaxton learned how to drink from a straw at the zoo. Jamba Juice Smoothie! Yum!!
Medieval Times: Jaxton was so into all the action going on around him that he fell asleep in the middle of the show! Funny boy!

We visited Old Town San Diego where the city was originated. Believe it or not, the Mormons contributed greatly to the origens of San Diego. We visited the Mormon Battalion Monument, whcih tells the amazing story of the LDS men and women who traveled on foodt from Iowa to San Diego to secure the United States borders during the war with Mexico. Those same members helped start the San Diego city government. Others from the Battalion went north and contributed to finding gold at Sutter's Mill. Very interesting indeed!

San Diego is gorgeous with big old homes at the tops of the hills in unique neighborhoods. We wnt to a Spanish Cafe called Cafe Sevilla that served authentic Spain food like on Nate's mission. The last few nights we stayed at the Catamaran Hotel, a beautiful tropical hotel located on the shores of Mission Bay. We could walk out the hotel and be right on the beach! It was beautiful. Jaxton loved the sand and dug holes in it and tried to eat it! He had so much fun! The hotel offered complementary cruises across the bay and that was tons of fun too! Very beautiful! We took a bike ride around the bay with jax in a seat on the back of Nate's bike. He loved it, but fell asleep during the ride! :-)

Jaxton 9 months old

Jaxton is 9 months old!!! He is a little roly poly and can get around just fine without even knowing how to crawl yet. Who needs to crawl when they can just roll everywhere they want to go?! That's our little Jax. He is getting cuter day by day!! Every time he sees another little baby or little kid, he gets so excited. He tries everything to get their attention, waving his arms, raising his voice and screeching in their direction. He just loves other little baby faces. It is so fun to watch him get so excited. This is one of his most recent photos we got taken. Yes, he is already a basketball star like his dad!
The other day we had a rotisserie chicken for dinner. Jaxton wouldn't eat much chicken, but he absolutely loved to naw on the chicken bone like a little puppy! What a cutie! He nawed off all the meat and sucked that chicken bone dry!! Cute boy!

New Baby on the Way...

We are expecting baby #2 on February 2, 2008! Jaxton will be a big brother! These two will be about 15 months apart, which I think will be just perfect. Jaxton is dying to have a playmate, and will love having another little baby around to play with. We are so excited!! We could not figure out our due date, so we did have an ultrasound done that determined the date of Feb. 2. I was only a little over 12 weeks when the ultrasound was done, so technically it is too early to tell whether it is a boy or girl, but some of the pictures we got from it, definitely looked BOY! Here is a full body shot of the little one inside!
