Summertime Zoo Fun

We spent some time at the zoo, just like I used with all the littles.  Kaylee, Dawson, Nathan & Owen and I went and visited Africa today.  It's a whole lot easier visiting the zoo with Bigs :-) that can all walk without a stroller and do fun rides like the skyroller!!  We had a really fun time!!

Kaylee's Last Day of 7th Grade

Kaylee has had a really great year in middle school.  She was so nervous to move into the middle school and it has turned out to be such a successful, enjoyable year for her.  On the last day of school, her classmates nominated her to give a speech representing the entire 7th grade class moving up into the 8th grade leaders for next year.  She is such a gem, and everyone see it.  She is a natural leader, confident, caring and empathetic to all.  She holds no biases, resentments, or grudges.  She simply loves, and I love that about her.  Congrats on the nomination, Kay!!

Elementary Messay Games & Last Day of School 2024

The annual Messy Games arrived again for the Lower Elementary classes.  Owen was so looking forward to being a part of Messy Games for the first time as a first grader.  Nathan got to help plan them as a 3rd grader.  Spagetti, whip cream, jello, chocolate fudge and sprinkles.  The messier the better!!

I got to help with the hair-do sundaes, always a hit!!

Nathan and Owen were in the same classroom this year.  Nathan will most miss Grayson and Owen will most miss his buddy Ari.  They both adore their teachers Patsy and Kelly.  Its been a fantastic year for these elementary kiddos!

Nathan's Striker Soccer Team

Nathan is on the Striker's Soccer League and they competed in the Spring tournament, winning of course.  The team is fantastic and Nathan fits right into the skill sets of the players.  He is loved by the coaches and contributes to each and every game.  He is passionate and a fighter.  Go Nathan!  Go Strikers!!

Linda's Retirement

Simplx ended our chapter of 24 hour Central Station monitoring after a 7 year time.  It's been a ride!!  This change unfortunately affected our staffing and we had to eliminate weekend and after hours positions.  This included Linda Brandenberger, who we have come to care about deeply.  We celebrated Linda's time at Simplx and Certified and gave her a fun happy send off.  We wish her well and will keep in touch always!

Family Farm Care

As a family, we help with farm care on the weekends.  Of course Kaylee leads us and lets us know what to do.  The cows, donkeys, alpacas, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and cats all need fed and watered.  The kids dive in and help.  Its always a pretty fun adventure that will be memorable forever.

Oak Farm High School Prom

Prom day for these boys!  Jax was running behind, going straight from work so he didn't make it into these photos.  But here are Andy, Ryker, Cooper & another buddy of theirs who I cannot remember his name. Have fun boys!!

After School Treats

Of course we always enjoy ice cream after school, whether after tennis practice or other sports, or just for fun.  Handels is on our way home from school and its always fun to stop there for a treat on a Friday afternoon.

"Where I'm From" by Cooper

This is a poem by Cooper Routsong entitled "Where I'm From."

Where I'm From
Epigraph form - Simile, Anaphora, Imagery, White Space, Allusion, Rhyme

I am from hand-me-downs, and outside I'd play.
From quiet time and fifteen minutes of piano every day.

I'm from the blue pond, and the magically appeared fish.
I'm from Wii on the weekends, and cottage cheese, with chips.

I'm from "don't be the last one in the car!"
From who's the man, I'm the man.

I'm from drinking that warm milk, as warm as can be.
I'm from running around the house,

"but mom... it wasn't me."

I'm from jamming music in the car, as loud as lil' Nate.
I'm from homemade bread, I remember the dangerous taste.

I'm from picking strawberries, to making warm then frozen jam.
I'm from the eye of the tiger, and trying to be the man.

I'm from bagel Tuesday... Panera does best,
from the YMCA, it always put me to the test.

I'm from well water, some like, some disagree.
I'm from the Kendallville Theater, The Strand is the best, trust me.

I'm from grandpa always retelling his story, "the barn's on fire, and I didn't do it!"
Hearing dad say, "I flushed the whole lost-and-found down the toilet."

I'm from "focus on what you can control," and "did you grab your shoes?"
From Utah, Destin, and Toledo, Ohio, as well as the zoo.

I'm from soaking dirty tennis balls and drawing on the wall.
Jax did it too but because of him, I took the fall.

I'm from Christmas eve, and trying to go to bed,
From Christmas morning and shaking my parents head.

I'm from "we are very dedicated, we have given so much time,"
to learning our truth and our hearts forever downtime.

I'm from so many questions, why this?  Why that?
From hearing so many suggestions, doing this, you'll stay in tact.

I'm from typing.com and I'm from
            Wait
                    For
                            Me
I'm from "I'll love you no matter what," and "Mom, there's a b-e-e-e-!"

Grandma Linda's Birthday

I took Linda to the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale for her birthday at the Colliseum Event Conference Center.  She was in heaven.  There were so many neat things to choose from and we both gathered lots of things in our giant shopping bags.  After a couple hours of overwhelm, we went through our shopping bags and decided what we wanted to keep and what to put back.  I bought a couple of things for Linda for her birthday.  She loved every minute and it was a lot of fun to spend that time with her!
