Greyhound Soccer

Jaxton played on the YMCA Greyhound Soccer team this summer. He loved it! He loved wearing tall socks just like real soccer players! He played soccer last year on a city team for three year olds, which never played an actual game; they just did different soccer drills. Well, this year, his team would practice for 30 minutes, and then they would play an actual game against another color team for 30 minutes. So this was Jaxton's first exposure to a real soccer game. The very first game, he was a little overwhelmed. He kinda just followed the crowd which followed the ball and kept his distance. After about 4 weeks though, he got in that crowd, knew exactly where the ball should be going, and one day he was out in front of the crowd dribbling that ball across the field! His most favorite position was goalie. Jaxton loves to run, but he gets tired quick. And if he is a team member out in the field, it is not likely he will get the ball unless he runs hard and fights for it. But as goalie, he gets to rest until the ball comes his way, he gets to use his hands, and he has lots of chances to kick it (when it goes out of bounce on his side; when he catches it he then gets to kick; when the whistle blows on his side he gets to kick). Jaxton is a smart kid! He thinks about those things!! So, goalie was his cup of tea!!
