Dirt, Mud, and More Dirt

Who needs grass when dirt is so entertaining? Our whole yard is dirt, and boys find so much to do in it! They go rock collecting, bug searching, and dig for pennies in it. They mix it with water to create mud and "go to work" out there. This particular day, our sand box (which is empty- why buy sand when you have acres of dirt?) filled up with water overnight. The boys began using cups to get out water and dump it places. Then they began dumping it on each other and themselves, till they were muddy messes!! But oh so much fun!! They were laughing and playing, that I decided to let them enjoy themselves; they needed a bath anyways.

Movie Night

We have some really great friends, the Stump Family, whose kids are our kids best friends! They have Coby who is 6, Kye who is 4, and Cameron who is 2. So we had a movie night together and watched "Monsters vs. Aliens." The kids all got cozy together with sleeping bags and pillows and popcorn in their jammies. It was a fun evening!
Cooper is close in age to Cameron Stump. They started wrestling together and totally had fun together! Cute 2 year olds!

Auburn Statues

We went with Grandma Routsong and the cousins Cassidy and Madison to Auburn, Indiana where they had a display throughout the city of these life-size statues that looked incredibly real. Here we are with a few of our favorites:
Policeman: He was positioned at the curbside where he was writing up a ticket for a car parked right in front of him. It looked pretty realistic, but I wouldn't park my car there if I were them!

The famous War poster
I don't know how to turn this around either, but look how real that looks! The little boy, the girl in pink and the bunny are all fake. But we all blend together! Pretty cool!
This janitor was sweeping up the trash. So the boys decided to play in it.
This man was washing the windows of an office building. It looks so real!

Book of Mormon Stories

This is Cooper's all time favorite song. He does all the motions too. If you do the motions wrong, or forget to do the motions, then you are in trouble!

Grandma & Grandpa Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Hutchinson came to Fort Wayne to visit us!! We had a lot of fun having them stay at our new house! Thank goodness it is finally done! One day while they were here, we went to Shipshewana, a famous Amish town. We thought it would be fun to take a buggy ride and had a great time with our Amish guide. It was fun for the boys to ride and be pulled by a real horse. They thought that was awesome. We went shopping in the Amish stores and ate lunch at an Amish restaurant with family style Amish food. We also got to see a live auction. It was a fun filled day!
Here is our buggy, our guide, and me and the boys:

Here is a close up of the buggy

Grandma & Grandpa wanted to take the boys on an individual "date" to spend some quality time with them one on one. My mom asked Jaxton if he would like to go to the Dollar Store with her and pick out something fun. His response was, "That's not a date!" So my mom asked, "Well, then what is a date?" He responded, "Let's go to the mall!!" Jax loves the mall. I don't know why. But who else in our family absolutely loves the mall?.....right, his Daddy. Nate will go to the mall between appointments all the time, stop in at his favorite stores and check on deals. He shops more than I do! Well his son has inherited that knack! So they went to the mall. Here they are at the play-place in the mall, and then on the Merry-go-Around. Fun stuff!!

Jaxton was swimming the river

Cooper's turn: Cooper wanted to play basketball for his date. I told my parents how passionate he is about the game, and they found that out when they took him to the park. They took along our kiddie basketball hoop so he could actually play, but they parked it right at the edge of the real basketball court so he would feel as if he were playing on the real court. He loved it!! He has so much skill that he has simply taught himself. I know nothing about basketball, and I have not taught him any skills. I play with him a lot, but he is the one who makes his own drills and practices like crazy. I can't wait to put him in peewee basketball next summer!
Look at that wrist action! And his stance! He is only 2!!!
Shooting position
And he shoots! And he scores!
Yes, I am on the real court...
Here it is again, the shooting stance, ready for wrist action.
Dribble Dribble Dribble

Grandma went to the store and brought back more art projects for the kids to do. They always love her creative ideas.

Grandma & Grandpa were able to come to one of Jaxton's soccer practices. They loved watching him play. Sometimes, the coaches have a family member come be a partner and help pass the ball back and forth or help out with their son or daughter. So Grandpa was the chosen one to play with Jax this time. Jax felt so special to have his grandparents there to cheer him on. Thanks for coming!!
Grandpa is the goalie. Will Jaxton's kick make it past him?
Playing a game one on one
Grandpa Goalie again...
Thanks for coming to visit, Grandma & Grandpa. We will miss you but we love you very very much!!!

Jaxton's Castle

I can't figure out why this picture is turned sideways. Can't seem to fix it. But regardless, here is Jaxton's castle. Pretty detailed! He loves building towers, castles, cities, garages, you name it. In this particular castle, there is a "bad guy" toy from McDonalds that is caged in the middle so he can't get out of the castle. What a creative little guy!

Our Concrete Patio & Dirt Yard

We decided to have a concrete patio instead of a wood deck because it was a lot less expensive, and I am so glad we did. Now the boys can ride their bikes and play on the concrete. We have no grass, just dirt and mud, which they love. They collect fun rocks and dig all the time. We even put out our sprinkler on the concrete and it worked just fine!! It will be a muddy, dirty, dusty summer to remember!!

Metea Park

My friend Summer and I took our kids and a couple that she babysits to Metea Park right by our house. It is a huge park with a sandy beach and swimming pond. We took sand toys, picnic lunch and floaties for their arms and had a blast! It is hard to take the kids to a pool, because if there is no kiddie pool, neither kid can swim or stay afloat, and I have to hold on to two boys at one time. Its just too tricky. So we have hardly ever gone to a pool this summer besides swimming lessons. This place was awesome because it was a beach. So they could go in to their ankles all the way up to their shoulders as they felt comfortable. And they loved it!! Jaxton went in to his shoulders and felt so brave. And Cooper wore his floaties and was walking around on hands and feet around the water. It was such a fun experience. Afterward, we put all the kiddos on the grass so they wouldn't get all sandy again while we cleaned up our stuff. They were so cute all sitting up there that we had to snap a photo. What a great day!!

Little Kickers with Hallie

This summer, Jaxton was on a "Little Kickers" Soccer team for 3 and 4 year olds. He absolutely loved it! He did 1 session with his good friend Hallie, but loved it so much that we signed him up for a second session. He would always ask me what day it was because he knew that on Mondays and Wednesdays we would be going to soccer after dinner. It was super fun watching him play and learn. He really did learn a lot doing soccer all summer long. I am impressed with his foot skills too!

He had 3 coaches, Coach Caitlyn, Coach Yahya, and Coach Amanda. Coach Caitlyn is below. They got to know him during the 1st session of soccer, so when he showed up for the 2nd session, the coaches already knew him and he felt pretty special!

They all got to take turns being goalie, which Jaxton loved! He was cute about his blue soccer ball. He always had to make sure he was using his ball, and not any other ball. They often had to stop everything to find Jaxton's ball in order for Jax to play. It was pretty cute!! Below is Coach Yahya.

Below is Coach Amanda, Jaxton's favorite.

Moving In...

We finally moved in! Hoorrayyyy!  It has been a very long 6 months of waiting and watching our house be built.  It has been an exciting road, and overwhelming at the same time!  We feel so blessed and fortunate to have been able to build such a beautiful home!  Here are some pictures of the finished product!!
