Halloween 2007

Happy Halloween!!! Jaxton's first Halloween! How exciting! We dressed him up as a Glow-In-the-Dark Skeleton. What a cute boy! He even had a skull on his beanie hat! Nate dressed up as Harry Potter, complete with the scar on his forehead and glasses, cape, and wand! He really went all out this year! I went as a black cobweb witch (believe it or not, I have never been a witch before for Halloween in my entire life). It was a super fun Halloween. We did not trick-or-treat. Instead we went to our friends, the Glausers, for a fun Halloween party. It was a fun first Halloween for Jax!

Octoberfest 2007

We went to the Octoberfest at Thanksgiving Point for some Fall Halloween fun! We went with Melissa & Marcos Giraldi & cousin Amanda. The daddies and kiddos got to ride a cow train around Thanksgiving Point. They had all kinds of fun games and climbing things. There was a giant blown up haunted maze that Nate took Jaxton through. I guess it scared him some, but the big mouth to the maze was pretty cool! They had tunnels and slides and haystacks to climb on and a big cow to practice your milking skills! It was a fun evening!

Big Brother

We found out that we are having another baby boy! I don't know if I ever thought I would have a family full of boys!! It will be lots of fun for Jaxton to have a brother so close in age. I hope that they will be good friends and grow up being buddies all their lives!

Chicken Bones

We offered Jaxton a chicken bone from our rotisserie chicken for dinner last night. He absolutely loved it!! He just knawed off all the meat and sucked that bone dry! It was so funny to watch him! I couldn't resist taking some pictures!

Crawling Jax

Jaxton is crawling all over the place!!! He pulls up to stand on everything and is getting super fast at crawling. He is getting to the point where when he wants or needs something, he tries to express it and gets very frustrated and angry when its not recognized. We are starting to work a lot on sign language so he can use his hands to express his nees while he can't talk yet. He gives kisses now too, open mouthed slobbery kisses that are so adorable! He is getting good at rolling the ball back and forth like a game. He has just started attempting to bounce it to me now too. I can't believe he will be 1 in a month and a half! Time just flies!

Bear Lake Vacation

We went camping at Bear Lake with all of my family in Utah. Bear Lake is a massive lake surrounded by deserty hills. Hardly any trees around. But the lake is like a turquoise teal color - beautful and clear! We had a cabin at the KOA campground that had a bathroom and refrigerator and microwave with air conditioner and heat! That's my kind of camping. We rented a boat for a few hours and a jet ski. We also went biking on a four seater bike which was super fun! But serious exercise!!! What a fun trip! It was so good to just enjoy the beauty of the lake and the sunshine with family.

Routsong Family Reunion

After our San Diego vacation, we flew directly to Indiana to visit Nate's family. We stayed with the Owens the first couple of nights and visited with Beth and her kids. Then we drove up to Kendallville to stay with Nate's parents. On Saturday, the whole family came up for a reunion. Everyone was there except Nate's brother Nick who is going to college in Provo, UT. That made 12 cousins all together plus all the family on Nate's mom's side of te family (Linda's sister, her kids, and grandkids). Most of all Jaxton loved seeing all the kids. He gets so excited when he sees other babies and little kids. He will squeal and wave his arms to get their attention. Even if he is exhausted, when he sees another kid, he just pipes right up! so you can imagine all the excitement with all 11 of his cousins! Almost overwhelming for him! He had so much fun. He did great on the plane too. He is just an all around happy little guy!

Vacation in San Diego

We took a trip to San Diego after the summer ended to just get away and relax! It was our first trip with a little one on tow! We had a great time just relaxing and not having to worry about anyone or anything but us! We took Jaxton to the San Diego Zoo and went to Medieval Times in LA. We stayed at a beautiful tropical hotel right on Mission Bay. We could walk out the hotel doors and step right onto the sandy beaches of the Bay! It was gorgeous! Jaxton was a fan of the beach! He even thought the sand tasted quite good! He's our little beach bum! It was a nice break after a long busy summer!

San Diego Zoo
Jaxton learned how to drink from a straw at the zoo. Jamba Juice Smoothie! Yum!!
Medieval Times: Jaxton was so into all the action going on around him that he fell asleep in the middle of the show! Funny boy!

We visited Old Town San Diego where the city was originated. Believe it or not, the Mormons contributed greatly to the origens of San Diego. We visited the Mormon Battalion Monument, whcih tells the amazing story of the LDS men and women who traveled on foodt from Iowa to San Diego to secure the United States borders during the war with Mexico. Those same members helped start the San Diego city government. Others from the Battalion went north and contributed to finding gold at Sutter's Mill. Very interesting indeed!

San Diego is gorgeous with big old homes at the tops of the hills in unique neighborhoods. We wnt to a Spanish Cafe called Cafe Sevilla that served authentic Spain food like on Nate's mission. The last few nights we stayed at the Catamaran Hotel, a beautiful tropical hotel located on the shores of Mission Bay. We could walk out the hotel and be right on the beach! It was beautiful. Jaxton loved the sand and dug holes in it and tried to eat it! He had so much fun! The hotel offered complementary cruises across the bay and that was tons of fun too! Very beautiful! We took a bike ride around the bay with jax in a seat on the back of Nate's bike. He loved it, but fell asleep during the ride! :-)
