Greg's Birthday

Greg is one of Nate's best friends, and best Simplx workers.  We share the Lake House with Greg too.  It was his birthday and we celebrated him at Simplx today.  Nelly made a newspaper for him and we celebrated him being an "old man!"  Happy Birthday Greg!

Total Eclipse 2024

On the afternoon of April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse – the first since the Great American Eclipse in 2017 and the last until August 2044 – was arced  across the southern half of Indiana from southwest to northeast.  The centerline of the eclipse will enter Indiana at around 1:47 PM EDT, with totality beginning at about 3:02 PM We decided to go southwest to a small town that apparently would have totality.  It was really really fun, me and the 6 kiddos with our eclipse glasses.  The whole park area got dark when the sun was covered up, like it was dusk.  It stayed that way for a few minutes and then started to get light again. It was really fascinating.  Afterwards, all of our eyes hurt.  We all felt it.  Even though we used the glasses, our eyes were painful for a half hour or so as we drove home.  What an experience!!

Costa Maya, Mexico

Our second stop on the cruise was in Costa Maya, Mexico.  Here, the tides were really high and the winds were strong, so our snorkeling excursion was cancelled.  We walked through the town, shopped in the market and ate lunch at an authentic little restaurant right on the ocean.  After eating we played around a bit on the beach, over the bridge and in the rocks.  It was a pleasant time.

Cozumel, Mexico

In Cozumel we were able to get off the ship and explore.  We went on an excursion to a private beach.  It seemed a little sketchy at first, but we found our guide, piled into a giant van and they took us through the town.  We stopped where there was a restaurant near the water.  They had a section reserved for us to relax, lay out, order food & play in the shallow water.  We enjoyed our time and the yummy food here!

Royal Caribbean Family Cruise

The Royal Caribbean Cruise was a blast. We had a fancy dinner every evening with our same waiter.  Each night was a different theme.  We enjoyed Hawaiian Theme, 80's Night, and Formal Night.  We brought some outfits to go with each theme.  Nathan went full blown disco for 80's Night, complete with a Waynes World wig and sunglasses. The ship had its own ice rink and the kids got pretty good at ice skating. The rock wall was a big hit as well and the soccer court & basketball court.  Dawson had a lot of fun on the putt putt golf course.  The younger boys stayed in our room, the girls stayed in the Matneys' room and the 3 teen boys stayed in their own room together.  Fun memories made on that ship!
