One Sunday morning Dawson was just playing around the house. We have an old baby swing that is broken, but we've kept it for the kids to play on so that they won't play on our newer baby swing for Baby Nathan. Well, Dawson was playing on it and using it like a slide. He put his arms over the back headrest and attempted to slide down the swing to the foot of the swing. Well somehow his attempt sent him falling hard towards his face. He caught himself well on the carpet with his feet up in the air. That fall though sent lots of pressure up his arm bones and caused his left ulna bone to compress itself. It created a little buckle fracture on the lower part of his ulna bone. At first I wasn't sure whether his fingers were hurt or if it was his wrist bones because he wouldn't stop crying and he wouldn't use his fingers or hand to do anything. He wouldn't even use his thumb and finger to eat his fruit snacks. We decided to try going to church to see if he'd be distracted but he had a terrible time in Saframent meeting. I could tell it wasn't just a little hurt, it seemed there might be an injury. The doctor told us over the phone to come in first thing Monday morning. I monday he had us get it xrayed and indeed he had a buckle fracture. So the doctor splinted his arm, and Dawson was a trooper. He let the doctor wrap it and he left it on. It didn't bother hi at all. He had it for two weeks and in fact he never tried undoing it until the day we ant in for followup X-rays. The splint, however made him a bit clumsy. Befell forward on his hands at least four or five times during the week with hard impact. I'm sure that didn't help things. He is our first to break a bone. Do you think it will be the lat? Or maybe the first of many!
