Grocery Tour

Since Fort Wayne had so many "snow days" when school had been cancelled throughout wintertime, the school year for the public schools had been extended. So we decided to extend preschool as well, but just do a whole bunch of fun field trips the last few weeks rather than curriculum. Here, the kids took a tour of a grocery store and we got to go behind the scenes! Here they are at the bakery where the lady is demonstrating how she frosts cake with her special frosting tools. Yum yum!
The kids were able to see the giant smashing machine. They put boxes of all sizes into this machine and it smashes them up to be recycled.
Oh yes, the freezer. Freezing temperatures! The kids got a kick out of this one because it was just so darn cold! It was a freezer they could walk on into!!
Of course the milk. Who doesn't buy milk at the grocery store. There were hundreds of milk jugs. When a customer opened the refrigerator door to put a milk jug into their cart, the kids (behind the refrigerator) shouted hello to the surprised people on the other side. The kids thought that was pretty funny!
What a fun field trip. I think we did the same field trip last year, but its fun to go every year when the kids find new things that are interesting as they grow a year older.

If you look back in your comments from way back you will see I am repeating myself. However, I have to say...you are so awesome! I love the things you do with the kids. How exciting. I know I would have loved it as a kid. Heck, I would lov it now!!!!
Hope all is well. Hugs
