The libraries here in Fort Wayne have a program called "Paws To Read." It is where they bring in a dog, or several dogs, which I understand are training dogs, or training dogs in training. So they bring them in and kids are able to take a turn and read a book to the dogs. The dogs apparently are practicing to be good listeners so they can be training dogs for handicap people. So it's a win-win because the kids absolutely love to read to the dogs!! This was our first time going to read to the dogs. Jaxton chose "The Coconut Tree" book and Cooper chose a Spiderman book. We read them together ahead of time to practice and then the boys got to read to the biggest dog they'd ever seen! They both became very shy in front of him. Cooper froze up and was afraid to tell him his story, so I helped him out. But they both thought it was super cool that they could read to that giant dog!
