Toddler Bike-A-Thon
It has been such beautiful perfect autumn weather lately, so the boys and I decided to take a bike ride. They rode while I walked. There is a paved track going all around the YMCA into the country in a huge circle. It is about a 1.65 mile track. Jaxton has been trying to learn to peddle and is starting to get good at it, so he was excited for our bike ride. We started out at about 10:00 am. I planned to go just a little ways and then turn around and come back, maybe a total of half mile. Well, they were having so much fun riding that they wanted to keep going. So we did! About half way around the track, they began to get tired. But we were half way, so whether we turned around or kept going it was the same distance. We had no choice but to keep on going...! By this point, Cooper wanted to walk instead of ride. But he would get on every once in a while and then take a break and walk again. After a while he decided to just pull his bike and walk holding my hand. Bless his heart, he was worn out! Jaxton actually was going strong all the way around. He was starting to peddle so fast that he would get quite a ways ahead of us. He was super responsible though and would stop and wait when the track turned until he could see us. Then off he went again, peddling away. At the beginning of the track, he wanted me to push him up the hills. But by the end of the track, he was so far ahead, he just figured out how to get himself up the hills all by himself. When we finally saw our destination around 12:00 lunch time, both boys were excited. They were worn out, but proud to have made it all the way around! What an accomplishment! Thats one way to get some toddler exercise!!
