Trying out the swing
Nate has a friend who works with Indiana Michigan power repairing powerlines and such. Apparently he comes across power poles that are extra or not needed. He told Nate he could get him a couple of power poles to build a swing for the pond. Indeed he did bring one over and used his machinery to dig a very deep hole to secure it. It’s finally warm enough to play in the pond and we tried to swing out for the first time. Lots and lots of fun!
Fire pit
Dawson and dad went to Menards to use up his Menards credits. They wanted to buy a new fire pit for our backyard. They ended up deciding to build one! Dawson worked with dad on color choices, number of bricks needed, and then Dawson actually built the entire metal insert with 16 screws. He and Nate together glued the breaks down in circles of 11 in a pattern of colors and built it six layers high. It was a really fun project for them!
Nerf Wars
We went to Combat Ops as a family and had a Nerf war. It was just our family in the arena and though it was a short 30 minutes it was certainly memorable. Super fun to get out of our element and play together!

Dawson’s Piano Recital
Dawson completed Suzuki book one piano lessons. He performed the entire book for a mini recital with Mary Todd. Mary has been a fantastic teacher. Dawson was unique in learning piano because he spent his early childhood years listening to all of the Suzuki songs over and over and over being played by his older siblings. Before we got him in piano lessons he had already figured out all the notes on both hands for several songs in Suzuki Book 1. He learned them by ear because he did not know how to read music. Dawson felt so proud to complete Book 1 before the end of the school year. Congrats Dawson!!

NAFED Conference Indy
Nate and I went to the National Association of Fire Equipment Distributors, the NAFED conference for the fire and life safety industry. It was held in Indy this year so we drove down to visit the expo the networking lunch and the evening reception. We got to know some of the other equipment distributors near us that could help with our current distributor’s shipping delays. We also got to Get to know other business owners and passionate individuals in the industry. We are new to the fire division and can gain a lot of knowledge and advice from those who have been running divisions like ours for many years. We also met a husband and wife company just like us. They are getting ready to retire and have been in business for going on 40 years. It was a great experience and we learned a lot!
Lake House Demo
We worked today on our Lake house at Blue Lake. The exterior of the house was finished in the fall. However, the interior of the house needed completely gutted down to the studs. Today we worked at demo-ing and will have a few more weekends to finish. It’s looking good!
Kaylee’s Camp Potawatomi Trip
When we first arrived at Camp, this time it only took like 15 minutes!
Right here, we were making making candles! So what you do is just get a string, dip it in wax (purple or blue), then dip it in water! And you have to do that like a hundred times.
And then here, we would play a game on top of the bunks. We called it the “Donald Duck Game” because Ruby braught a Donald Duck stuffed animal and we would sing a song and pass the Donald Duck around and at the end of the song, whoever the Donald Duck lands on their OUT!! And also, Liam always hangs out with the girls so April let him come play in the girls room!
Right here was the Low Ropes and there was a couple obstacles, the first one was you had to stand on a rope and hold on till the end. The next one you had to go from tire to tire. then you had to go on a rope and hold on to the other ropes then when it got pretty high, you would have to get on to the ropes that you were holding on to but everybody fell except Kalyn!
Right here was the rock wall and it was 50 feet and really hard! The only person in our group who made it to the top was….. Bella!
Here’s the play ground! In between all the events we would get to take a break and go to the playground!
This when we went Canoeing! It Was really hard but fun! They showed us a smaller area and it was really hard to get through but there was…… GEESE!! And they were MOTHERS! They had baby geese so they were pretty feirce!
This was the Olympics!! What we did was lots of Activities that we had to do as teamwork

Cub Scouts Birds 4/12
The Cub Scouts had to learn about birds in Indiana. I felt pretty in adequate to teach that topic and researched others in town that could teach it better than me. I came across this raptor rescue group who was willing to bring live birds to our Cub Scouts meeting and demonstrate and teach about the different kinds of birds in the area. They also talked about the rescue efforts and they were all volunteers. We are rounding up donations to support their organization. It was such a fun time. We saw an owl, a hawk, a miniature owl and a couple others. We got to feel real bird feet and feathers. So much fun. Afterwords the boys were able to build bird houses to hang outside.
